A
Diamond Grading Report is not an appraisal of the value of a diamond,
but an objective, standard rating of diamond characteristics on which
an appraisal is be based. A Diamond Grading Report is a professional
evaluation of a diamond's quality and characteristics and, when it
accompanies a diamond, serves as proof of the diamond's identity.
If you want to insure your diamond, (and this is highly recommended)
you will need to get a separate appraisal. Most appraisers, however,
will base their appraisals of the diamond on the stated quality found
on the certificate.
Frequently the certificate contains a 'plot' or diagram of all the characteristics that are found in the diamond. All certificates contain the following information:
- A certificate number unique to the diamond
- The shape of the diamond
- The length, width and
depth of the diamond
- The carat weight
of the diamond
- The colour of the
diamond
- The clarity of
the diamond
- The quality of polish and symmetry
- The total depth percentage and table percentage
of the diamond
- A description of the girdle's appearance
- A description of the culet's appearance
- A notation of the presence or absence of fluorescence
in the diamond
Diamond Grading Reports can be viewed through
this page by selecting the diamond size by carat weight. These reports
provide examples of the quality of diamonds carried by Exclusive
